Program Overview

Your Open Campus Block in Auckland places you in a waterfront city surrounded by stunning natural landscapes, while giving you the flexibility to shape a study abroad experience around your goals. You’ll enroll in CIEE courses and online courses taught through CIEE's global academic partner, ASU. Take part in co-curricular and extracurricular experiences like hiking across volcanic trails, sailing on the Hauraki Gulf, and visiting nearby Waiheke Island for its vineyards and coastal scenery. Time in Auckland blends outdoor adventure with a vibrant urban culture and a strong connection to the surrounding environment.

Activities

CIEE’s excursions and cultural activities in Auckland will open doors for you to explore New Zealand's rich diversity, language, culture, history, and timeless beauty in ways that will enhance your time abroad.   

Samples of excursions and activities: 

  • Learn about Maori history and stories from local guides and explore the Auckland Domain and Bastion Point to gain insights into the Maori connection to the land 
  • Immerse yourself in the world of international art at the Auckland Art Gallery to admire works from renowned artists, explore thought-provoking exhibitions, and participate in art workshops 
  • Embark on a rewarding hike to the summit of Mount Eden, one of Auckland's iconic volcanic cones

Arizona State University (ASU): Brought to you by CIEE in partnership with ASU, enhance your international coursework with online classes that align with your degree requirements. ASU offers thousands of online courses in asynchronous 7.5-week sessions that fit within the CIEE academic calendar.

GAIN Travel Grants - Up to $1,500 toward travel costs guaranteed to students with a FAFSA SAI of $10,000 or less. Higher should still apply!

Gilman Go Global Grants - Up to $2,500/semester, $1,500/quarter, and $1,000 guaranteed to Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship applicants.

Merit-Based Scholarships - Up to $2,500/semester, $1,500/quarter, and $750/summer awarded to students deomonstrating high academic achievement.
