Program Overview

Your Semester in Florence program lasts 12 weeks. You will enroll in a combination of CIEE courses and courses taught online through CIEE's global academic partner, ASU. Enhance your experience with co-curricular and extracurricular activities while immersing yourself in Italian culture. Live and learn in Florence!

CIEE’s excursions and cultural activities in Florence will open doors for you to explore Italy's rich diversity, language, culture, history, and timeless beauty in ways that will enhance your time abroad.

Samples of past excursions and activities:

Visit a traditional working vineyard and olive grove, with an in-depth description of wine and oil production, promotion, and distribution
Enjoy excursions to Florence locations, such as the Duomo Santa Maria del Fiore, Uffizi Gallery, Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio, and more
Visit smaller historical cities in Tuscany such as Lucca, Siena, or Volterra

Academics

CIEE Florence: Located in historic Palazzina Marchi on Piazza della Indipendenza, the Study Center is just steps from the University of Florence, Florence University of the Arts, San Lorenzo Market, the train station, and airport tram. Surrounded by cafés, restaurants, and local favorites, the Study Center features an architecturally unique octagonal studio commissioned by American sculptor Horatio Greenough, filled with natural light from every angle.

Arizona State University (ASU): Brought to you by CIEE in partnership with ASU, enhance your international coursework with online classes that align with your degree requirements. ASU offers thousands of online courses in asynchronous 7.5-week sessions that fit within the CIEE academic calendar.

GAIN Travel Grants - Up to $1,500 toward travel costs guaranteed to students with a FAFSA SAI of $10,000 or less. Higher should still apply!

Gilman Go Global Grants - Up to $2,500/semester, $1,500/quarter, and $1,000 guaranteed to Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship applicants.

Merit-Based Scholarships - Up to $2,500/semester, $1,500/quarter, and $750/summer awarded to students deomonstrating high academic achievement.
