Program Overview

Your CIEE Semester Intern and Study Abroad program in Melbourne lasts 12 weeks and features three key components: A part-time internship with an international organization (approximately 20 hours per week), an internship seminar, and two elective courses taught online through CIEE’s global academic partner, ASU. Enhance your experience with co-curricular and extracurricular activities while building career skills, expanding your professional network, and immersing yourself in Australian culture. Live, learn, and work in Melbourne!

Samples of past excursions and activities: 

  • Enjoy a game of Aussie Rules football or cricket at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, the largest sports and music stadium in the southern hemisphere 
  • Meet Australia’s unique wildlife up close at Healesville Sanctuary and learn about conservation efforts, watch captivating animal feedings, and connect with the natural world in the heart of the Yarra Valley 
  • Get a bird's-eye view of Melbourne, including the city, beaches, gardens, and the distant Mount Dandenong from the 88th floor of the Melbourne Skydeck

Arizona State University (ASU):?Brought to you by CIEE in partnership with ASU, enhance your international coursework with optional online classes that align with your degree requirements. ASU offers thousands of online courses in asynchronous 7.5-week sessions that fit within the CIEE academic calendar.

GAIN Travel Grants - Up to $1,500 toward travel costs guaranteed to students with a FAFSA SAI of $10,000 or less. Higher should still apply!

Gilman Go Global Grants - Up to $2,500/semester, $1,500/quarter, and $1,000 guaranteed to Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship applicants.

Merit-Based Scholarships - Up to $2,500/semester, $1,500/quarter, and $750/summer awarded to students deomonstrating high academic achievement.
