Program Overview

Your CIEE Summer Global Internship program in Auckland lasts 8 weeks and features two key components: A full-time internship with a local organization (approximately 30-40 hours per week) and an internship seminar. Enhance your experience with co-curricular and extracurricular activities while building career skills, expanding your professional network, and immersing yourself in New Zealand culture. Live, learn, and work in Auckland!

Activities

CIEE’s excursions and cultural activities in Auckland will open doors for you to explore New Zealand’s rich diversity, language, culture, history, and timeless beauty in ways that will enhance your time abroad.

Samples of past excursions and activities: 

  • Learn about history, customs, and traditions of Maori people at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, exploring how Maori preserve their traditions while actively contributing to contemporary New Zealand society
  • Take a ferry to Rangitoto Island, Auckland's iconic volcanic gem, and hike through lush landscapes to explore its unique volcanic terrain
  • Visit Auckland's west coast to explore stunning black sand beaches and rugged wilderness trails

GAIN Travel Grants - Up to $1,500 toward travel costs guaranteed to students with a FAFSA SAI of $10,000 or less. Higher should still apply!

Gilman Go Global Grants - Up to $2,500/semester, $1,500/quarter, and $1,000 guaranteed to Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship applicants.

Merit-Based Scholarships - Up to $2,500/semester, $1,500/quarter, and $750/summer awarded to students deomonstrating high academic achievement.
