United Kingdom: Exploring English Engineering and Culture
London ViewThe purpose of this course is to expose students to engineering as a global profession. Students will learn how to work as an engineer in an international environment. Focusing on the United Kingdom, students will learn the culture, customs, and history of another country, especially in regards to engineering. Students will travel to that country in order to gain practical, first-hand experience with the coursework. The travel will focus not on sightseeing, but on site visits to sites of cultural and historic relevance, as well as factories, facilities and universities relevant to the study and practice of engineering.

Information: London, the capital of England and the United Kingdom, is a 21st-century city with history stretching back to Roman times. At its centre stand the imposing Houses of Parliament, the iconic ‘Big Ben’ clock tower and Westminster Abbey, site of British monarch coronations. Across the Thames River, the London Eye observation wheel provides panoramic views of the South Bank cultural complex, and the entire city.

Billing for the summer 2017 programs will occur upon registration into the courses associated with the Education Abroad program in STAR. The payment deadlines for the program will be the same as WVU Summer Semester Tuition and Fees. Registration will occur in mid-March, students will receive correspondence from OGA with registration instructions upon acceptance into the program after the application deadline. All payments are due in full before trip departure. Payments can be made through STAR or by contacting the Office of Student Accounts at (304) 293-4006.
