Program Overview

Your CIEE Summer Intern and Study Abroad program in Alicante lasts 6 weeks and features three key components: A part-time internship with an international organization (15-20 hours per week), an internship seminar, and a 3-credit academic course taught online through CIEE’s global academic partner, ASU. Enhance your experience with co-curricular and extracurricular activities while building career skills, expanding your professional network, and immersing yourself in Spanish culture. Live, learn, and work in Alicante!

  • Tour Santa Bárbara Castle, the Old Quarter, and the Archaeological Museum of Alicante  
  • Visit a globally recognized hospitality company with a location in Alicante
  • Take a trip to a winery in the Alicante region, offering insights into the wine production and export business

Academics

CIEE Alicante: Study on the main campus of the University of Alicante (Universidad de Alicante in San Vicente). CIEE Alicante is situated in the northwestern region of the city, roughly 20 minutes from top sites like the Santa Barbara Castle and Parc de l’Ereta.

Arizona State University (ASU): Brought to you by CIEE in partnership with ASU, enhance your international coursework with online classes that align with your degree requirements. ASU offers thousands of online courses in asynchronous 6-week sessions that fit within the CIEE academic calendar.

GAIN Travel Grants - Up to $1,500 toward travel costs guaranteed to students with a FAFSA SAI of $10,000 or less. Higher should still apply!

Gilman Go Global Grants - Up to $2,500/semester, $1,500/quarter, and $1,000 guaranteed to Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship applicants.

Merit-Based Scholarships - Up to $2,500/semester, $1,500/quarter, and $750/summer awarded to students deomonstrating high academic achievement.
